Elizabeth Mather

Liz has worked in General Practice for 31 years; most of that time in Gateshead but in the early days in Newcastle. Liz has worked as a Practice Manager since 1987 doing her AMSPAR Diploma, then going on to do the AMGP Diploma and an Open University Degree in Management.

In recent years Liz has developed her role and qualified at a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner specialising in Clinical Hypnotherapy. Over the years Liz has been involved in various groups and committees for Gateshead PCT on a local and regional basis.

Liz has been a member of IHM since 1987 and has held several posts at regional and national level. Liz took over the role of North East and Yorkshire Council Chairperson for the period of 2006 - 2008. In November 2006, Liz was recognised by the Council of the Institute of Healthcare Management and was awarded IHM Companionship for her outstanding contribution to Primary Care.

For the past two years Liz has been the Northern Coordinator for the Department of Health 'Working in Partnership Programme (WIPP); Workload Analysis tool' and has been identified to work with other managers to develop a DoH National Practice Managers network.

Claire Ritson

Claire worked in the NHS for 5 years before pursuing a career in learning and development. She has since gained 12 years experience in training delivery and supporting many individuals to achieve Apprenticeships and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's).

Claire launched CER Training in April 2006, delivering bespoke Customer Service, Team Building and Management training in the Health Industry. Claire has worked as a business partner of the Institute of Customer Service and has also worked closely with the Institute of HealthCare Management, becoming secretary for North East and Yorkshire and delivering workshops at regional and national events.

In January 2008 Claire began working with the Distinctive Group to assist in the set up of Distinctive Training. Distinctive Training has since become a highly successful government funded training provider.

Claire is passionate about supporting organisations to develop through their employees and takes pride in delivering quality training that encourages learners to achieve and progress in their careers. Claire believes that excellent learning and achievement can impact significantly on peoples' personal and professional lives and strives to ensure that CER provides the best possible support both throughout our programmes and following achievement.
